Healthcare UX, designed for the people who actually use it.
I design mobile and desktop apps for clinicians, care teams, and patients. That means interfaces that work in a busy exam room, at the end of a long shift, and on a patient's phone at home. I build in Figma with a systems mindset (Auto Layout, shared libraries, reusable components) and turn designs into clickable prototypes you can test before any code is written.
With 20+ years of Photoshop behind me and working fluency in HTML and CSS, I deliver polished visuals that are also practical to build. I'm comfortable working within healthcare constraints like HIPAA.
Several of my clients have come back for more, or brought me in after another designer didn't deliver.
Projects
What I do
Design from scratch or refresh what you have
Whether you're launching a new product or your existing app feels dated and hard to use, I'm equally at home starting with a blank canvas or improving a live product without breaking what already works.
Scalable Figma design systems
I build with Auto Layout, component libraries, and consistent styles, so your design stays consistent as the product grows and your developers get clean, well-organized files.
Clickable prototypes for mobile and desktop
Test flows with clinicians, patients, or investors before committing to development. Real interactions, real feedback, less guessing.
Visual craft
Twenty-plus years of Photoshop expertise means refined imagery, icons, and visual polish, not just functional wireframes.
Front-end awareness
I write HTML and CSS and use Figma and other tools to build working front-end prototypes, so my designs are grounded in how they'll be built.
I can take your product from rough idea to developer-ready design, or step in and rescue a project that's stalled. Send me a message on Upwork and tell me what you're working on.

Clinical workflow app
Post-Procedure Follow-Up for Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologists need to know how a procedure turned out, and that depends on following up at the right time. I designed an app that schedules and guides those follow-ups so practitioners can capture results consistently, without adding work to a full clinic day. The client was enthusiastic about the final designs.

Mobile and desktop, HIPAA-compliant
Secure Practitioner-to-Patient and Pharmacist Messaging
This product lets practitioners contact patients and pharmacists directly, without routing everything through an EMR, while keeping HIPAA compliance intact. I designed both the mobile and desktop experiences over a year-plus engagement. The client brought me in to take over after another designer failed to deliver, and the product went on to be profitable.

iPad app
Voice-to-Text Patient Notes for Care Facilities
After dozens of patient interactions, even the best clinicians struggle to remember details. This iPad app lets practitioners record observations as they go and have them transcribed automatically, so notes are captured while they're fresh. I worked side by side with the developer throughout, and he loved the result.

iPad app, live on the App Store
Patient Progress Tracking for Acupuncture Clinics
Acupuncture practice is highly individual, so the software has to flex. I designed an iPad app that tracks each patient's progress, treatment history, and treatment plans inside preset or custom modules that clinics can adapt to how they work. I collaborated directly with the client, and the app is now live on the App Store.

iOS app with Bluetooth device integration
Remote Blood Oxygen Monitoring
Designed at the request of a physician, this app connects to a Bluetooth oxygen reader, tracks blood oxygen levels, and lets users share readings with their doctor or family remotely. The doctor was so pleased that he commissioned a series of related iOS products.

Cross-agency web application
Maine Healthcare EMR Intake
Working with a variety of agencies across the state of Maine, I was an influential member of the team that created this cross-functional web application for intake into the state's healthcare EMR. I was responsible for a large portion of the design language, which involved complex input from many agencies. The clients were pleased with the final design but, being a government agency, later modified it.
